Nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas) is a safe and effective sedation technique that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled with a small mask that fits right over your nose and will help you relax. This is especially helpful for patients that have severe dental anxiety and are nervous about treatment.
Nitrous will not put you to sleep and you will able to hear and respond to any requests or directions from the dentist. You may feel a bit light-headed or a tingling sensation, but the effects wear off as soon as the mask is removed and you can drive right after the procedure without having to have someone come with you to your appointment.
